The BNS is delighted to announce that the Alfred Meyer Medal for 2011 was presented to Professor Hans Lassmann, Brain Research Institute, Vienna, Austria.

The award followed a lecture presented by Prof. Lassmann based on his work in research into multiple sclerosis and entitled Mechanisms of tissue injury in Multiple Sclerosis.

Since 1999, Prof Lassmann has been University Professor for Neuroimmunology, Head of the Division of Neuroimmunology, at the University of Vienna, Austria. He is recognised as a pioneer in the fields of Neuroimmunology and Experimental Neuropathology.
